Bangladesh shine with three golds
Bangladesh’s para athletes made history at the Asian Youth Para Games 2025 in Dubai, returning with an impressive haul of five medals — three gold and two bronze — marking a significant milestone for the nation’s para sports movement.
Leading the charge was Chaiti Rani Deb, who exhibited remarkable talent and determination by claiming two gold medals. Despite her small stature, Chaiti dominated the javelin throw with a best effort of 11 metres and followed it up with a stunning gold in the 100-metre sprint, showcasing her versatility and grit.
Mohammad Shahidullah was another star performer whose inspiring journey captivated the nation. Competing with a single leg, Shahidullah took gold in the 50-metre freestyle swimming event and secured a bronze in the 100-metre freestyle, exemplifying resilience and exceptional athletic ability.
Success also came in team events, as the women’s wheelchair basketball team clinched a bronze medal, further solidifying Bangladesh’s growing stature in continental para sports.
This five-medal haul marks the most significant achievement by the National Paralympic Committee of Bangladesh (NPC Bangladesh) at any Asian youth-level competition.
The medal-winning contingent is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on Monday at 11:00 am, arriving at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, where a warm reception awaits them in celebration of their success.
